Therapeutic assessment
As part of the Child and Youth Protection Services (CYPS) 'A Step Up for Our Kids' program, Barnardos and partner agencies make sure that every child and young person in out-of-home care has a therapeutic assessment.
These assessments look at the children and young people’s trauma history and how it impacts in areas such as health, education, behavioural and emotional development, culture and identity, and family and social relationships. The recommendations made in the therapeutic assessments guide case workers and members of the Care Team in developing the child/young person’s therapeutic case plan.
